Quinn Boss

The 5’1 self-proclaimed “spitfire” from New Jersey knew from the time she was pretty young that she wanted to move to Music City. “My mom brainwashed me. I’ve always heard ‘Nashville, Nashville, Nashville’, and we would take mother-daughter trips every April to Tin Pan South since I was fourteen years old. I wanted to be a singer so badly! It’s a love I cannot escape.”

Looking around her place, one can instantly identify that the 25-year-old singer/songwriter possesses massive amounts of creativity. From the unique assortment of decorations to the hammock on the back porch, her personality shines through in every facet of her life. She’ll stop suddenly after saying something to write it down and hum a chord or two. Her mind is constantly working, and her face lights up when she feels like someone’s said something that could fit into a lyric. However, she has some trouble finding female co-writers.

“I cannot get any of girlfriends to write with me. I’m literally doing cartwheels, having outbursts-- I just get so excited.” Where does she find her inspiration? “I write about what’s going on in my life or my close girlfriends, whether it’s relationships or just life scenarios. People can relate to it better when it’s something that’s actually happening.”

When asked to describe her personal style of music, she pauses for a moment to think. “My style is me. When you listen to the Record, you get that. Each song on it is a different angle of my personality. There’s toughness, there’s happy-go-lucky, there’s sad, there’s uneasy. We call it the ‘bipolar album’.” She laughs. “I guess overall, it’s a little punk rock country, and that’s what I really want it to be.”

The Record she’s referring to is her latest effort that was produced and engineered by Her & Kings County’s (Warner Music Nashville) Caleb Sherman. It’s a collection of 10 songs that Quinn and Caleb personally picked out. “I started with a different producer than who I ended up with. I had all these songs picked out, and I got together with Caleb, and we ended up not liking any of the songs. We just clicked. This album expresses who she is as an artist and how she is continuely growing!
